Abstract: | In this paper, the displacement and stress fields for a crack normal to and terminating at a bimaterial interface of isotropic and orthotropic half planes are studied as a plane problem. The eigenequation, by which the order of stress singularity is determined, is given in an explicit form. A discriminant function is presented to judge whether the stress singularity at the crack tip is greater than -1/2 or not. An explicit closed form expression is derived for the displacement and stress distribution near the crack tip. |
