Abstract:New negative thermal expansion materials in complex oxides include the series of tungstate, vanadate,phosphate and molybates,etc.The mechanisms of negative thermal expansion were discussed with six modes:phase transitions,transvers thermal vibrations of bridge atoms,coupled rotation of rigid polyhedra unit,internal pressure changes in solids,bending of bimaterial interfaces,migration of cations.The prospects of potential applications and developing trend of the material are propounded.
