Abstract: | Tricarbonyl chromium (0) species encaged in LiX or NaX was found to be highly efficient and stereoselective for the hydrogenation of butadiene at > 230 K. The selectivity to cis-2-butene depended both on the reaction temperature and butadiene pressure. The reaction mechanism is proposed, in which cis-2-butene is formed via (4-C4H6)Cr(CO)3, while 1-butene via (2-C4H6)Cr(CO)3 and (2-C4H6)2Cr(CO)3. |
