Abstract: | The various types of detergents, detergent sanitizers and sanitizers available on the market are first discussed with specific reference to the advantages and disadvantages of certain components. The cleaning operation is then broken down into various economic factors. The use of water and reclaimed water is detailed with hints on water-saving techniques. The energy factor is discussed with the pros and cons of hot versus cold cleaning. Concentrations and the automatic control of solutions are also covered, together with correct methods of detergent application and the reclaiming and re-use of detergent solutions. Finally, the problems of effluent discharge are covered and two forms of treatment outlined. |
