A brief review on the study of embedded wireless sensor networks

The development history of sensor networks is introduced, and the characteristics and requirements for a sensor node mainly about the energy, cost and networking are discussed. Some commercial off-the-shelf battery Radio Frequency chips and Micro Controller Unit are summarized and the four necessary units and two additional ones of a sensor node are described. The challenge of wireless sensor network technologies is introduced too. Finally the energy management technology which is very crucial to sensor networks is discussed.
