Abstract:Thickness error is an important factor affecting the electromagnetic (EM) performance of radome. For the radome with asymmetric shape, the EM performance degradations caused by thickness errors vary with antenna scan angle. Aiming at this problem, a radome thickness design method based on interval analysis is proposed in this paper. First, the radome power pattern interval is analyzed according to the interval of errors, from which the EM performance intervals are obtained. Then, the variation of EM performance intervals with thickness under different scan angles are analyzed. Through transforming the EM performance and its variation intervals into a single objective function, the thickness is selected to yield the optimal EM performance and its variation intervals under different scan angles. Simulation results of a tangent ogive radome validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
