Abstract:After being modified with KH—550, silica was treated respectively with hydrophilic, lipophilic and amphibious polymeric modifiers, and the mechanical properties of coating membrane formed with polyacrylate emulsion such as adhesion, hardness, impact strength and flexibility were measured. The interfacial phenomenon between the phases and dispersion of modified silica were investi gated by SEM. The result shows that silica with amphibious surface is superior to any other one as filler for emulsion.
