Abstract: | In this paper the coprime‐factorized model predictive functional control for single‐input single‐output processes with an arbitrary number of unstable poles is presented. The predictive functional control algorithm gives a framework for designing the control for a wide range of processes. The main idea in the case of unstable poles is based on the prediction of the process output based on the coprime‐factorized process model. The robust stability of the proposed control algorithm is also discussed, using the small‐gain theorem, which provides a sufficient condition for stability.
