Abstract: | How to compute upper and lower bound buckling loads based on potential energy and complementary potential energy methods is well known. The present paper is an extension of the method presented in Ref. (1), to deal with statically indeterminate problems of infinitely many degrees. The method presented here utilizes the Rayleigh quotient and an improved upper bound termed the Timoshenko quotient to obtain a lower bound. |
