盐是化学工业之母,化学工业是国民经济的基础产业,三酸（硫酸、盐酸、硝酸）,两碱（纯碱、烧碱）是基本的化学工业,而其中的盐酸、纯碱、烧碱是以盐为主要原料生产的,每生产1 t纯碱或烧碱要消耗1.2 t～1.4 t的盐,全世界用于生产钠碱、氯和氯的衍生物等80多种基本化工产品所用的盐,占全世界总盐耗量的60%以上,在工业发达的国家,化工用盐一般都占到总盐耗量的90%以上,因此可以说,国民经济的全面发展,依赖于发达的化学工业,而发达的化学工业又依赖于发达的制盐工业。

Over 60% of total salt in the world is consumed to produce sodium alkali, chlorine, chlorine derivant and other over 80 kinds of chemical product. In developed countries, over 90% of total salt is used in chemical industry. So, it de- pends on advanced chemical industry to develop national economy with all sides. However, the ad- vanced chemical industry depends on the advanced salt industry.
