Abstract: | 2 × 2 contingency tables are widely used in the statistical analysis of categorical data grouped according to certain (mutually
exclusive) attributes, characters or quality. The paper describes three specific applications to electrochemical engineering,
employing (i) Fisher’s exact test for electrolyzer selection; (ii) the McNemar test to determine improvement in current efficiency,
and (iii) the Mantel–Haenszel test to evaluate electrolyzer performance. The subject matter represents a cross-fertilization
of two disciplines to facilitate statistically backed design decisions and performance analysis. |
