Abstract: | A BaTiO3 powder has been prepared by the sol-gel process from the hydrolysis of a solution of barium acetate and titanium ethylate in the presence of acetic acid as a catalyst. Supplementary constituents in the form of Ca(CH3COO)2, Zr(OC3H7)4, Sr(NO3)2 also can be used. Intermediate phases of barium acetate and barium carbonate have been identified by differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, infra-red and scanning electron microscopy. BaTiO3 with perovskite structure synthesizes in the temperature range from 600 to 1000°C. |
