Réseaux à large bande intégrant les services de télécommunication *

With the important breakthrough of optical fibre techniques over the past few years, a new type of broadband networks is emerging offering a wide range of services, including existing telecommunication services. The French telecommunication administration installs presently a first generation of broadband networks using optical fibres and broadband switchings, the so-called vidéocommunication networks. When specifying these networks, one important aspect was to assure that these networks can also offer telecommunication services and can evolve in a way to become the basis of a future national telecommunication network. The paper describes the approach adopted for the interconnection of these vidéocommunication networks with existing or planned telecommunication networks.
