| Abstract: | Vague language is a linguistic phenomenon widely existing in human communication, and is a topic many linguists make efforts to study. This paper studies the basic language knowledge of vagueness, and tries to analysis pragmatic functions in different language situations, such as literature, law, politics, advertisement, news, and other everyday spoken English. |
