Abstract: | The Award for Distinguished Scientific Applications of Psychology is presented to a person who, in the opinion of the Committee on Scientific Awards, has made distinguished theoretical or empirical advances leading to the understanding or amelioration of important practical problems. The 2009 winner of this award is Nancy E. Adler. A citation, biography, and selected bibliography of her works are provided. Also included here is Adler's paper, entitled "Health disparities through a psychological lens," a version of which Adler presented at the American Psychological Association's annual convention.
