Abstract: | The Awards for Distinguished Scientific Contributions are presented to persons who, in the opinion of the Committee on Scientific Awards, have made distinguished theoretical or empirical contributions to basic research in psychology. The 2009 winners are Susan E. Carey, Alice H. Eagly, Steven F. Maier. For each awardee a citation, biography, and selected bibliography are presented. In addition, for Alice H. Eagly, her paper, entitled "The his and hers of prosocial behavior: An examination of the social psychology of gender," a version of which she delivered at APA's annual convention, is provided.
