Geological characteristics of uranium deposits and prediction of favorable metallogenic areas in southwestern area of Qaidam Basin

Southwest Qaidam Basin is not only rich in oil and gas resources，but also contains rare associated ore bodies of metal uranium.In view of structural characteristics，sedimentary evolution，lithology and lithofacies，geochemistry，hydrogeology and other problems in this area，the prospecting ideas and theoretical methods of "oil and uranium exploration" such as geology，sedimentation，logging and geophysical exploration are adopted.On the basis of analyzing the past oil，gas and uranium exploration results，the "secondary interpretation and utilization" of oilfield drilling data is fully used，and the uranium verification hole drilling is carried out.Comprehensive research on sedimentary evolution，lithology and lithofacies，hydrogeology，uranium mineralization and uranium occurrence characteristics has been carried out.The research results of delineating two large scale uranium metallogenic favorable areas in southwestern Qaidam Basin have been obtained.It is concluded that the uranium source in southwestern Qaidam Basin is sufficient，the sand body in the favorable facies belt is developed，and the "supplement diameter discharge" system conditions are perfect，which has the superior geological conditions for the formation of large scale uranium deposits，which is of great significance to point out the direction for the breakthrough of sandstone type uranium prospecting in Qaidam Basin.
