CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM OF STEEL STRUCTURES RELATED TO STABILITY CALCULATIONS

This paper introduces the classification of multistory and high rise steel structures related to the internal force analysis and the stability calculation of a steel structure in “Code for Design of Steel Structures”(GB 50017).The definitions of sway and non sway frames,the distinguishing a lateral stiff structure from a lateral flexible one,and the classification of strongly braced and weakly braced frames used for determining the calculation length of a column are also introduced by combining the classifications.Finally,the specific applied method of each classification is summarized as well.
