The Development and Influence of Gardening Education in National Central University

Before the establishment of the Gardening Group of Beijing Agricultural University in 1951, some universities had carried out longterm curriculum construction, and the National Central University offered gardening-related courses in both agriculture and engineering. By sorting out the establishment and teachers of garden-related courses of the Department of Horticulture, Forests and Architectural Engineering of the National Central University, the scientific research, practice and its impact on the development of landscape architecture are analyzed. It was found that the garden-related courses of the National Central University were mainly developed by the Department of Horticulture, and were electives courses for the Department of Architecture. The courses had corresponding internships. They were offered by key teachers who had studied abroad, such as Wu Gengmin, Mao Zongliang, Liu Dunzhen, Li Ju, and Fan Xiaoyan. The teachers not only promoted the teaching system to the whole country, but also carried out some gardening practice and research, which laid a solid foundation for the development of landscape architecture in China
