Modern Expression of Historical Context:Design for the Symbolic Building on Fangbang Road Near Yu Garden of Shanghai

Architectural shape design in historical context not only needs value judgment and aesthetic positioning by critical historical ideology but also proper tactical selection. This paper takes the symbolic building on Fangbang Road near Yu Garden of Shanghai as example to explore the logic way of expressing historical taste by modern building material and structure i.e. classic rhyme in modern style except the pseudo-classic similarity and style contrast.
