Abstract: | Provides information about the primary employments of APA members as reported in APA directories from 1939 to 1955. The outstanding findings is that, while APA membership increased some 530% during the 16-year span, the number of psychologists employed by governmental agencies increased 1150%, whereas the number employed by publicly supported college and universities increased only 330%.
