Abstract:A solar powered adsorption ice maker has been studied theoretically and experimentally. The derivation of net coefficient of performance (COP) for ice maker is obtained from the theoretical analysis. A solar adsorption ice maker with active carbon-methanol pair was designed for the experimental study. The area of solar collector for the ice maker is 1.1m2, and the volume of the refrigerator is 103 litres. Its net COP from the experiments is about 11% and the maximum COP is 15%.
