Simulation of slow flow of a fluid past a solid sphere

Abstract:The problem of slow flow past a solid sphere is considered when the outer fluid is of infinite extent. Inertial effect is included in the analysis. A numerical method is employed to obtain solutions of the equation of motion. Solutions are obtained for the spherical coordinates components of velocity. The results obtained are in complete agreement with those obtained by other workers for the flow of the Newtonian fluid past a solid sphere.
