Abstract:The behavior of cerium in the binary Fe 28Al alloy has been studied. The results indicate that cerium addition improves the room temperature ductility and yield strength, and has the effects of deoxidation, desulphurization, control of the shape of inclusion, microstructural refinement as well as surface modification. In addition, the morphology and distribution of Ce rich phases in the alloy were studied.
