Abstract:Because the output of photovoltaic (PV) is influenced by external environment, the output power is nonlinear. Aiming at making full use PV, the output power of PV is necessarily tracked and controlled by maximum power point tracking(MPPT). A modified adaptive perturbation and observation (P&O) which can overcome the disadvantage of traditional P&O was proposed after analyzing the operational principle of traditional P&O. According to the engineering mathematic model and the output characteristics of PV, the model of PV array was set up by Matlab/Simulink. The results indicate that the system can track the maximum power point smoothly and quickly than the system used the traditional P&O.
