Instrumental methods for the study of the thermal degradation of polymers

After consideration of the objectives of a degradation study, product fractions, and experimental variables, an attempt is made to assess the applicability of various instrumental methods to particular objectives. The technique of thermal volatilization analysis (TVA) is discussed in greater detail. Several examples are discussed from degradation investigations to illustrate important aspects of experimental approach.
