Telecommunications circuit switching in a university environment

The use of a Stored Program Electronic Switching System (SPESS) in a university program of instruction and research is described. University involvement with telephony in general and telecommunications switching in particular is discussed, the SPESS facility is described, and Rensselaer's program of instruction and research is outlined.
