Abstract:Phasor measurement units(PMU) have greatly used in China for a long time.The information exchange between the bay devices and the process devices proposes some new requests for PMU.This paper introduces the PMU basic functions,PMU modeling with IEC 61850,sample values message resolution,time synchronization,MMS service and information sharing.It is also presented that PMU implementation methods and application scheme.Some advices for IEC 61850 improving are proposed.They provide a reference for PMU devices application in smart grids.
