Abstract:The levels of 238U and 226Ra in various supplies of residential drinking water in Xinjiang have been surveyed during 1985-1987.The results show that the average levels for these two nuclidies are proportionally ralated.The population weighted average values of 238U and 226Ra in drinking water are 67.8mBq/1 and 2.98 mBq/1 respectively,and the concentration ranges for 238U and 226Ra are 2.1-3770 mBq/1 and 0.15-138mBq/1 respectively. It has been found that the 238U level in drinking water exceeds the permitted value set by the National Sanitary Standards for 11 sampling sites which account for only 1.7% of the total 668 sites.
