| Abstract: | The U.S. government has made great adjustment to the missile defense system. The Sea-based Midcourse Defense (SMD) is developed on the basis of the former Navy Theater Wide (NTW) system. The paper begins with the development history of SMD, and the system structure and flight tests are introduced in detail. Finally future development and deployment plans of SMD are described. |
