灰盒系统的信息和控制技术

主要研究了用于控制本地磁盘文件布局的灰盒信息和控制层(ICL)。一个灰盒ICL是处在客户和OS之间且结合算法、观测的数据,从而推断出存储的信息或者控制灰盒系统的行为。我们总结了在建立灰盒ICL过程中所获得的一套有用技术,目的是使ICL的构建变得容易。而且通过实例研究,证明了通过利用灰盒技术,不用修改OS一行源代码而实现了这个有用的类OS的服务例程。

Information and Control in Gray-box Systems

In this paper,we develop one gray-box Information and Control Layer(ICL) for controlling the layout of files across local disk.A gray-box ICL sits between a client and OS and uses a combination of algorithmic knowledge,observations,and inferences to garner information about or control the behavior of a gray-box system.We summarize a set of techniques in building gray-box ICL that are useful to ease the construction of ICL.Through case studies,we demonstrate the utility of gray-box techniques,by implementing the useful "OS-like" service without modifying a single line of OS source code.
