Abstract: | Fine β-powder with an average particle size of 0.28 μm was prepared by grinding and centrifugal sedimentation of sub-micrometer β-powder. Fine- and uniform-grained ceramics were fabricated from the powder by hot pressing. The average grain size of the ceramic was 0.21 μm. It was shown that this kind of microstructure was desirable for the matrix of in situ composite. It was also shown that the ceramics could be superplastically deformed at a temperature as low as 1500°C. |
