| Abstract: | We discuss basic theory and process for synthesis of aluminum master alloys containing rare-earth metals. We study the effect
of initial melt composition and synthesis temperature on the concentrations of alloying elements in the final] alloy. We
determine the composition and structure of the resulting intermetallic compounds.
