Analysis on Diseases & Maintenance Management Strategy of Cable-stayed Bridge in Service

With examples of cable-stayed bridges in service, and the tremendous cost caused by accidents and maintenance, analysis is made of the major causes for the disease and accidents of that type of bridge, including the initial defects of the bridge from inadequate design and construction, defects of cables from immature new materials and workmanship, damages to the structure by ultra limit and excess load, environmental corrosion and material aging, poor management and maintenance during service and unpredictable natural disaster and occasional accidents. Measures are proposed for maintenance and management to ensure service safety.
