RESIDUAL CARBON IN FLY ASH

The residual carbon in fly ash is the by-product produced in boiler through incompletely combustion. The origin of residual carbon is related with the composition and nature of coal , the nature of boiler, the working temperature of the boiler, air providing, and the residence time. The residual carbon is usual as char. It occurs as elemental char, on and/or within fly ash particles. The characteristics of particle distribution, surface area, H and O contents of residual carbon are discussed. The residual carbon level in fly ash can reflect the operating situation of boiler. The residual carbon interferes the COx content in flue gas, and make the quality of fly ash worse. on the other hand, the residual carbon can serve as a recycle fuel and a carbon material.
