This paper introduces the performances, development, production, and market prospect of layered crystal sodium disilicate that is a new type builder for phosphate-free detergent, reviewes briefly the performances of 4A zeolite, sodium metasilicate, and sodium polyacrylate as phosphate-free builders, and points out that layered crystal sodium disilicate is the best substitute of sodium tripolyphosphate as traditional detergent builder.
