Abstract: | An endo-beta-N-acetyl glucosaminidase of rabbit serum has been characterized after purification by affinity chromatography. The specificity was determined by fluorimetric monitoring of the hydrolysis of 4-methylumbelliferyl-beta-glycosides and by thin layer chromatography identification of the hydrolysis products of fluoresceinyl-beta-glycosides. This enzyme acts on the following oligosaccharides GlcNac-beta-1-4 leads to GlcNAc-beta-O-R giving free di-N-acetyl chitobiose and R-OH as hydrolytic products. |
