Abstract:The amount of chemical oxygen demand (COD) in distilled water or mud, to which single or complex mud additives are added, are measured with respect to four additives commonly used in oilfield. The four additives are FA - 367, XY - 27, PAM and CMC, they result in different effect on COD. Water samples with different COD are compounded by adding FA - 367 and XY - 27 of smaller influence to some special drilling sewage, and are treated coagulatively two times. The treated results show that COD of water samples containing various dose of one or multi additives are different. Although it meets the need of production to add overdose or larger influence additives. the COD in drilling sewage increases significantly, and is difficult to treat. As a result, the suggest that the additives should be used carefully in drilling fluids is proposed.
