ECO-CITY CONNOTATION AND LOW-CARBON DEVELOPMENT BASIS OF SHENZHEN:GUIDANCE AND PROMOTION BY URBAN PLANNING

By reviewing Shenzhen's urban planning practice for more than 30 years and the planning exploration in the transitional period,the paper illustrates the concept of eco-city and the basis of low-carbon development with emphasis being placed on the important role of urban planning.Urban planning,which is embodied in the systematic,integrated,and comprehensive aspects of urban construction,determines the direction of urban development in the future.Through carrying out the low-carbon and ecological concept in planning formulation and implementation,urban planning is the most effective approach to reduce the investment amount,enhance the profitability,increase the feasibility,and promote the sustainability.The development of low-carbon eco-city should start with planning,which can work efficiently and bring about substantial benefits in terms of both economy and environment.
