High temperature lubricants — oils and greases

Several compounds which can withstand high temperatures and retain their tribological properties have been used as high temperature lubricants. Such lubricants may be divided into three types: solid, liquid and greases. Solid lubricants can be used in more severe environments where oils and greases do not perform very well. A review of various solid lubricants useful at high temperature has already been published and this article reviews the tribological properties of several fluids and greases useful for high temperature lubrication.
