Abstract: | A previously developed theory of fracture toughness is extended so that the plane strain fracture toughness KIC may be calculated by a simple integration of uniaxial tensile data. KIC values calculated by this procedure are within 3 per cent of the values obtained by the previous theory for the materials considered. |
