Code sequence allocation in a direct sequence spread spectrum local area network

The amalgamation of spread system and local area network techniques is presented, and the flexibility of the new approach is illustrated with respect to specialized applications. Each system format is described including its relative advantages and disadvantages. The use of bridges linking similar formats is introduced. A system architecture is presented, which is capable of implementing each allocation method, while still maintaining the properties of the new local area network. The performance of this system is compared with that of presently operating CSMA and TDMA local area networks such as Ethernet and the Cambridge Ring.
