Abstract: | Studies of the steady viscous flow and heat transfer past a circular cylinder are presented for some fluid saturated fibrous porous media. Numerical results have been obtained according to the Darcy-Brinkman model by means of the finite element method. Forced convection is analyzed by assuming a solid matrix of constant porosity and permeability in a Péclet number range without any effect of thermal dispersion. Analysis of the influence of the Darcy number on isotherms, streamlines, and velocity contours shows the conditions of the enhancement of heat transfer from the cylinder to the surrounding porous medium. |
