The method to determine the optimum refractive index parameter in the laser diffraction and scattering method

Abstract:It is the most important and difficult problem to decide the refractive index of sample particles in particle size distribution measurements using the laser diffraction and scattering method. In this study, the method to decide both particle size distribution and refractive index of particle is investigated. The new method to determine the refractive index of particles is applied for several sample powders (polystyrene latex, glass beads, etc.) and the usefulness of this new method is confirmed.
