| Abstract: | An expert system is developed for engineering design using a blakboard model. The design process is understood as determining design variables and their relationships which compose the design model. A new engineering design approach is proposed relying on the co-operation between multi-knowledge sources through a black-board model. The system provides the following abilities: (1) flexible model building and easy modification. (2). supporting methods for redesign. (3) a hybrid function with numerical computations and graphics. (4) effective diagnosis of the design process, and is applied to the initial design of the injection mold design. |
