Photopolymer Data Storage Business Heats Up

Hitachi Maxell has announced that it will introduce a holographic data storage disk and equipment before the end of this year, using the sys tem developed by InPhase, a California company that has developed a volumertric holo-data system using photopolymer as the recording medium. A 300 GB write-once disc will be introduced in November or December, followed by an 800 GB disc in 2008; Maxell is hoping that by 2010 it will have 1.6 TB discs on the market.
