Abstract:The stability of ultrafine zirconia(yttria) powder suspension with addition of ammonium polyacrylate as the anion surfactant, and the relctionships of the suspension stability to the permeation rate, and the green density to the microstructure were studied. The experimental results showed that slip casting is a good route to realize the microstructural homogeneity of the green bodies with the ultrafine powder. The higher the suspension stability, the higher the green density, and the more homogenous the microstructure, but the smaller the permeation rate. The suspension stability was strongly influenced by the amount of ammonium polyacrylate and the pH value.
