Mining Classification Rules from Traffic Flow Data

Classification algorithms of data mining are reviewed briefly,and C5.0 decision tree algorithm is introduced concisely.Taking traffic flow data of the "Three-horizontal & Two-longitudinal" arteries in Beijing as an example,C5.0 decision tree algorithm is applied to extract the classification rules hidden in traffic flow data to analyze traffic rules,patterns and trends.The classification tree are quantified to help make decisions for the design of traffic signal timing plans,traffic network layouts,roads and intersections.
