Abstract: | The mechanical and tribological properties of rheo-formed Al 7075 wrought alloys are investigated using nano- or microindentation and nanoscratch techniques, incorporating optical microscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The results are compared to results from a Vickers hardness test. The peak hardness and surface roughness of specimens aged for 24 hours are obtained for Al 7075 alloy. The tribological characteristics of rheologically formed materials are investigated using the constant load scratch (CLS) method. Using this technique, the heat treatment condition for rheologically formed wrought Al 7075 alloys is optimized. |
