Design Comparative Analysis on Comb Chair with Windsor Chair

Through an overview of the characteristics, types, applications of the two typical types of Chinese and western civil furniture: Comb chairs and Windsor chairs, the differences in their cultural roots were revealed, which caused contrasts in their style, aesthetic feeling, and then, valuable similarities between their design elements such as shape, structure, material and decoration, were discussed. Finally, it pointed out that designers should not only inherit the tradition, but also to learn from each other, should let cultural dominant design behavior.
